cayman brac help

does anyone happen to know if the brac is still totaly messed up from paloma?8 of us are thinking about takeing a trip there in february.i was inquiring about a house to rent and the home owner told me that a lot of insurance and government money has helped and the brac was doing well and looking good

It is my understanding that there is one operator up and running. This was a message from a friend who has a house on the Brac.

I think that the "Brac Reef Resort" may open soon, if they're not already open - contact them.
The diving is excellent off this Island and hasn't had much diver pressure for a couple of years it should be great. I was there last about 4 years ago, I've been there about a dozen times but not since Paloma. We started diving on the Brac in 1989, there's been a lot of changes.

...I don't think that price is 'double the usual'...for the Caymans, anyway.

anybody been there recently that knows the condition the island itself is in.seems like a year is not enough time to rebuild a whole island

It's a small island.

The Brac is fine. I was there just a few months ago and will be going back in March. The restaurants are open and both dive ops are up and running. The diving was great as the reefs were not harmed by Paloma at all. The lack of a storm surge kept the underwater side of the Brac pristine. The Brac Reef is due to open shortly. If you are interested in a condo or a house, please pm me and I can give you some great recommendations.

My wife spoke with "Mr. T" about a week ago on the phone and they hope to be able to reopen by the first of December but still not sure yet.
