Hi.
I am trying to formulate a dive plan where I leave my son with my husband for a few mornings (and maybe they don't notice:D) and I get some diving in. I think my original hope of taking the ferry to Coz won't work. I have been hearing dismal reports of Akumal diving, so now I think I will just focus on maybe 2 days of cavern diving. I dove with Hidden Worlds 7 years ago and liked it, but want to do something other than them this time. Any recommendations for dive ops? I will be in Akumal, but can drive to go to the best spots. thanks.

I would recommend Dennis Weeks at Aquanauts in Puerto Aventuras. I know Dennis -- he is a cave instructor, and my husband has done some guided diving with him. He's a very nice man and very safety conscious. He enjoys a very good reputation here on SB, with the people who have done cenote dives with him.

BTW, my husband did do some open water diving with Aquanauts, and although the viz was not as good as it was in Coz, he still thought it was very pleasant diving. So I don't think you need to write off the idea of diving salt water, if that's what you really want to do.
