Why? ......

Well, was just thinking that if one was to go on a dive that would require a stage (AND deco gas or gasses), an AL40 would probably be too small... You got to weight the benefit of being able to extend your dive time (with AL40, not much time) and the "hassle" of carrying an extra bottle.
 
Balanced what a interesting word. Doesn't it all boil down to proper weight, buoyancy and trim?

Based on many of the previous posts, the Catalina and Luxfer 40's ride on the body differently - a bottle balance issue. As mentioned, a little bird told me that some time ago, but I never got a straight answer as to which brand was better. It is now apparent that the Luxfer 40's are preferred. A balanced bottle is not same thing as a "balanced rig" from a DIR perspective, but I wanted to keep this post in this forum.

We can talk about a balanced rig the next time I come by for gas if you like.
