Any recommendations for catamaran diving liveaboards? Blackbeards has one and I thought i had it on hold, but my preferred week was booked by a dive shop. So, I back in the market, but there don't seem to be many livaboard ops that use cats.

Thanks in advance!

Happy diving!

If you find out who the dive shop is you can contact them and see if they have any availablity.

Steve - thanks for the links! Nice stuff, especially bvidiving!

del mo - problem is we have already a full group. We wanted the cat with 10 passengers and we have 9. :) I was too slow with the deposit!

With that many people, you have a lot of private charter options also. There's the Liahona, it's a charter cat in the BVI's. I saw it at a divesite and it looked sweet. More info here: http://www.scubaboard.com/showthread.php?t=137482

I saw at least two big cats with divers on them at the Rhone Wreck, not sure if they were private or chartered. Also Dive BVI does Rendezvous diving, you buy dives from them and they show up with tanks/weights/DM etc. at the divesite. You can even call them on the radio when you're nearby and they'll meet you. Nice people too.

I have dove a Cat off Australia, the "Diversity" with Quicksilver. On land based cats, have dove Caicos Adventures (Provo-Turks & Caicos), Lahaina Divers (Maui).

I would not recommend Lahaina divers to seasoned divers, I would recommend Caicos Adventures, the liveaboard out of Port Douglas I highly recommend.

Blackbeards actually has two cats, the Aqua Cat and the Cat Ppalu. The Cat Ppalu is a 12 passenger boat that is done as a whole boat charter where Aqua Cat is a larger boat where you can book individual cabins. I have done Cat Ppalu and one of their sloops and had a GREAT time on boat. I have another trip chartered in May on the Cat Ppalu and everyone from the last trip is going again. Their boats book up quickly because they are such a great deal and great diving. Their crews are awesome. If your preferred week is booked, see if you can work in another week into your schedule, you won't be sorry.
