Before TSandM will permit me to get a HiDef TV, I have to "organize" our existing TV mess. A big part of that mess are too many DVD's and VHS/videos.

I want to catalog them so that they can be "hidden" somewhere BUT the basic information stored on the "media computer." Do any of you know of software that I can get (hopefully for free) that will go grab the information about the DVD/Video from some online database like is done for CD's that are ripped?

I'd love to be able to just type in the name of the DVD/Video and have the program go grab the info and stuff it into the database. Please tell me that someone has published a program that does that.

Thanks.

Whenever I need free software I start with source forge -

http://sourceforge.net/

A search for "DVD database" gives nearly 7000 hits. Right up top is My Movie Database (MyMDB):

http://sourceforge.net/projects/mymdb/

Note that software on sourceforge is all open source, meaning it is released for free. Downside is a lot of the software is experimental, or in developmental stages, but if you dig enough you'll find functioning programs. My Movie database is complete and functional.
