Great diving this weekend, Saturday on the King Neptune and Sunday in the Marine Park.

Here's a few pics:

Wow those came out real clean!!:)

How was your trip on the King Neptune?

Great Pics....I wish I liked cold water!

Wow great viz. Last time I was there that guitar shark would have been cloudy. Nice shots.

PS...I don't like cold water either but would jump in a heartbeat to go kelp forest diving again.

Wow! We dove Casino Point Saturday and Hen Rock and Torqua Spring(s?) Sunday with Catalina Diver Supply and none of our pictures look like that...amazing! They say pictures don't do some places justice well reality doesn't do your pictures justice they are simply unreal!

How was your trip on the King Neptune?

I've been out on the King Neptune 4 times now and have always been impressed with the crew and how the boat was run. In general, they have a good system to handle quite a few divers, but this last time the boat was a bit overcrowded.

I think there were about 27 or so divers, which is about 5-7 more than I would like to see. The result was it took longer to get in and out of the water, longer time to fill tanks in general, a very slow day. We meet at the dive shop at 0830, leave the dock close to 0930 and finished diving around 1700. That's a long day for only 3 dives and with the sun setting so early, the last dive was closer to a night dive.

However, they still ran a very good and safe boat and handled the crowd very well. The food is good and there was enough room on the boat for everyone.

They also handled my DSLR camera rig with great care, which is very important to me.

I recomend the boat to anyone who wants to dive Catalina. Just be ready for an all day trip.

Take care,
John

Wow, those pictures came out amazing. Was the vis really as good as it looks in your pictures? Love that picture of the Angel Shark! :D

Thanks, really appreciate the compliments.

The vis was really that good, IMHO, Catalina is the best diving on the West Coast, especially since great food and drink can be had just steps off the dive boat.

BTW, actually a Guitarfish vice Angle Shark, very similar though.

Take care,
John

Great images. I've not had that kind of visibility at Catalina and you really made great use of the good viz. As a devout "warm water wussie" I've only been to Catalina in the summer. What was the water temps in November?

My computer was showing 63 degrees down to 80+ feet.
