I recently purchased a Suunto Vyper wrist mount. Does anyone know what size and/ or Model number Pelican case is best for the Computer? Thanks in advance for your response.

I presume this is to protect the computer while it isn't being used during a dive.

For $4, I bought a deep square tupperware-like container, and I wrap the computer in a towel prior to putting it all in the tupperware container.

Works nicely, and can get bumped around in the dive bag with no worries....

Sorry I couldn't help you on the exact question you posed, but wanted to proffer another possibility.

cheers,

Sean

Thanks for your suggestion which I'm sure will work well between dives. I am thinking of getting/pricing a Pelican case to use when I get to travel further afield, and having a specific model number of case would be helpful.

Honestly, just stick it inside of your mask in your mask box, rolling the rubber strap around it to protect. Mine's driven from California to Florida and then flown to Australia in carry on with no adverse effects. A pelican case is overkill.

Thanks to you as well for your comments, I have put all kinds of gear in my mask case and it does work well. I know it may be a bit of overkill, but I would like to know what size pelican case others who have been overly-protective of their new toy would recommend!

Pelican 1050 is the only way to go.

My SK7 (compass) and my Suunto Vytec fit in it. Clear top, easy to open and close - it rocks. Put them in here, toss them in the reg bag, no worries.

The Vyper is pretty sturdy, so unless you are going to put it in the same bag loose with a weight belt or something, it will be fine. If you are worried, or are going to put it in a soft bag, you can stuff it in the foot pocket of your fins, or just make sure it's not going to wander out to contact the outer shell of the bag.

A Pelican case for the Vyper is major overkill and will take up a lot of space.

Thanks for greeting to Scubaboard and for the information. I've been on the board for a while. I think its the best source to solicit information about anything scuba relatied, and have referred many of my diver friends to the board.

As to whether or not I'll get a Pelican Case or not for my computer, I'm not sure. However now that I have a specific Model number I might just put it on my Christmas gift list. Beats another tie!

Me, I'm not a gaget guy. I don't flock to gagets, covet the latest and greatest, etc. My (actually, one of my many...) weak spot is cases.

I'm a case nut. Probably comes from being a musician, and having to schlep my drums and perciussion and PA and recording gear all over the place. Who knows. But I'm a case nut.

That said, I never got a case (Pelican 1450, thank you very much) for my HID light - it always stays strapped to the BP/W. But for my Vytec and compass, my Regulator rig, my drysuit, my masks, my dry box (and some stuff within the drybox...batteries, o-Rings, drysuit patch, etc.... ) you bet. Jeeze - cases within cases, wheels within wheels....I need a life.

Get a big stocking!

I have a Cochran wrist mount receiver unit. A fairly expensive piece of dive equipment. It resides in a plastic "Rubbermaid "servin' saver" part no. 378F-2 container. It fits in nicely. It's worked for several years. The face is wrapped in a "J-cloth" , to prevent scratches. It has travelled all over like that. Last week I noticed the Rubbermaid case had a hairline crack. -- I went and bought a new one. $3.99 cdn. Save your money for dive gear.
