As a novice diver I've heard all manner of cautionary tales about fire coral, getting "bent", down currents that could sweep me into the abyss, and even to watch out for the props of small boats travelling overhead, but never have I heard about a "cruise ship hazard" such as this. We just dove Coz last week, noting all of the gigantic cruise ships coming and going every day, and just feeling glad that we were not on one of them. In fact, we did a great night dive at Paradise last Thursday. I'm thankful that no cruise ship tried to make mincemeat of me then.

I suppose the only consolation was that it was a "close call" and that no one got hurt or killed - although it was clearly a very bad situation it could have been a whole lot worse.

Those cruise ships are the equivalent of a floating 100 story hotel - whoever drives them had better be paying attention.
