I'll second what Bicster is saying. I think we have the only 3 rooms that are occupied right now at the hotel, but the workers are busting their chops getting things repaired. Still no pool, TV (who needs it?), phone, or hot water in my room. I keep talking to them about the water and they always look astonished, holler something in Spanish and say 5 minutes. But heck, the cold water is not that cold.

We've had some rain the last couple of days, but hasn't really slowed down the diving much, just the scooter riding, which is probably just as well given my incident in the Chedraui parking lot yesterday.

Sounds like there is a story there... ;^)

I think the story will be when I have to return the scooter and see how bad I have to take one. Might hurt worse than the incident...

A story like that better include photos. You'll want photos anyway for the lawyers.;)

Hmmmm. Two things - red fingernail polish and superglue... ;^)

Maxwell - You didn't mention this .. incident .. to us ;)

We're leaving tomorrow. I took some pics of their progress this morning, and RiotNrrd took 4 gigs of photos (mostly underwater) before he left yesterday. After 17 dives in 5 days I am a little beat and just want to relax ... but I will post some of the pics when we get back, I promise! :D

They've been hard at work on the pool area. The roof over the dive shop is thatched. A patio cover was built yesterday off the lobby area and is being thatched presently. A ton of sod, dirt, and trees were dropped off yesterday evening for landscaping. I bet that if I came back in six months I would not recognize the place.

I think the rinse tank behind the dive shop is working once again.

Blue Angel's dive boats are now leaving from the pier next door to the hotel. And every so often, we have hot water. I took a nice hot shower this morning, followed by a very cold rinse!

Last night we tried to go to Especias for dinner, but it was closed. Then we went to Mesa 17, which was closed. Finally we ended up eating at La Choza, which was excellent. We also enjoyed Guidos, Prima, and El Moro. Thanks to Christi for her excellent restaurant list!

We were at Caribe Blu in August, and the water was sporadic then, too. Sometimes there was no hot, sometimes there was only hot. We got the same response when we asked about it. "Wait 10 minutes."

When we were there in May, sometimes we got hot water on both sides; I'm pretty sure that when they were redoing one of the bathrooms they got hot and cold reversed, so that there was a crossover between the supply lines.

Temperature controlled showers are over rated anyway.

Bicster, thanks a lot for the update. The landscaping in your first set of photos is a little bleak, so it is great to know about the continued improvements. I'm really looking forward to your more recent photos.

Did you see if other dive op's were picking up at the pier next door?

Always the same with us too.

Simply amazing pics. Thanks for posting. I never did make it back to the hotel after the Hurricane (I was a little occupied, lol) but I hope to change that one day soon. My wife and I still have a strange urge to "finish what was started" so to speak.
