Great photos. I'm impressed with how tight you were able to get in.

ScubaSteve - the Gurnard was in about 18 feet of water, maybe 30 feet to the right of the corner of the stingray pen and out another 20-25 feet. If you can see the yellow arrow...that's the spot. The white arrow is where the sea horses were at that time.

You had some great finds for a shore dive! I've never done a shore dive in Cozumel but maybe I will have to consider it in the future.

Nice shots!

While folks seem to believe that shore diving in Coz is worthless, it is far from true. While it does not compare with the boat diving, there are a lot of cool critters to be found, and very worthwhile for a dive or two.

FWIW, I don't know of anyone who has gone to Cozumel and done any shore diving who considers it worthless.

You've sold me on that dive. Very nice pics!

I made 39 dives on that little reef in 2007, and probably 25 more in 2008. I dearly love to kneel down beside a coral head and just wait to see what starts moving around, something I can't do on boat dives. Heck, it takes several dives just to find out where the resident octopus is sleeping during the day. I'm going back in Feb. for 2 more weeks of boat and shore diving, and I can hardly wait. Great pics, thanks for posting!

I'm probably one of them you're talking about but I never said it's worthless. I'm just heart broken over how much it suffered from Wilma. I'll take shore diving in Cozumel now over a lot of dives and would never miss the chance, but it use to be 10 times better. It'll get back to what it once was, but it's going to take a long time.

P.S. Great Pics Daz!
