Just came off the Caribbean explorer March 22- 29th trip. Only one complaint, the 29th came to quick!!!!
I traveled with my sons age 12 and 15, both dove. The trip worked out exreemly well with the boys diving and both had a wonderful time. They each completed 15 dives. the deepest being 111 feet, but normally averaged around 65 feet. Water temperatures ranged from 70 to 75 degrees depending on location.
2 days during the week the wind blew at 25+ and the captain did a great job keeping us comfortable. There were a total of 9 divers and 5 crew on the boat and all got along very well.
The boat, although the oldest in the Explorer fleet is well maintained, but does show her age. The accomadations on the boat are comfortable. We stayed in the lower cabins which share 2 bathrooms, this was never a problem. The spacing between the lower and uper bunk is a bit tight, but you get used to it. The cabins are clean and well maintained although bring a roll of tape to adjust the air as the rooms get a bit cool and covering the vent works great.
The dive deck is well run. Ther was 1 to 2 crew members in the water on every dive and the crew is careful about loging divers in and out of the water. If diving with kids make sure you are comfortable with them crossing deep water. Most of the dives are wall dives so there will be some blue water involved. Once on top of the wall there is plenty to see so it works out well.
The food although not 5 star resturant qualiy was definately good and plentiful.
