Hello,
Just wondering how many of you guys dive as commercial divers and where at? I always read threads saying you wont get rich off it but since I have started working on oil rigs as a roughneck I always hear them talking about Commercial divers and how they have it easy. Go to work make 200k a year, and heres us busting our rears for 19 hours a day. So my question is what is commercial diving all about, i dont know anything about it but for 200k out of libya and red sea why not get into it.

You're working on a rig for 19 hours a day? Who are you working for...a Venezuelan company? Nigerian? Certainly not with any Canadian company.

I work for Nabors Offshore, Have you worked the rigs? I know many people working on rigs in alberta sands for 19 hour days, its called overtime lots of it. You get so many walk offs in the oil industry you get to work these 19 hour days. Alberta oil idustry is rock bottom right now, cause of the alberta goverment. They want more money when they bring oil up, encanna, celtic, husky invested most of the alberta oil money over seas where they dont get taxed. Bye Bye work in Alberta for now, thats why I went offshore.
