Hi everyone! I'm so glad to finally be able to post as I have been all over this board since starting my OW course a few weeks ago. I was also having difficulties being allowed to post.

Anyway, you all seem like a very friendly bunch, and hope to get to know all or some of you very soon!

I will be on Cape Cod (Brewster) for the entire week next week (7/5 - 7/12) and REALLY would like to dive as I got my card this past weekend! Hooray!

While I realize there might be some trepidation about diving with a newbie, if it helps at all I must say that I didn't have any trouble at all and feel very comfortable in the water. Did all my reading and really learned the stuff, didn't just breeze through it. Also, on my last dive this weekend, I insisted that my instructor take me to 40' so I could know what that felt like. It was dark and cold (a nearby lake) and I loved it!!

I live in Atlanta but will soon be moving back to Boston--would really like to dive with someone next week--anytime, anywhere!

Thanks!

Eggman,

See the attached thread posted last week on scubadiving.com. This includes general information about diving on the Cape posted by a guy who is an instructor for Sea Sports in Hyannis.

I dive on the Cape occasionally, but during the high summer I tend to avoid it on weekends -- just too much traffic getting on/off the Cape. For a new diver, you can't beat Sandwich Town Beach mentioned in the link above -- easy entry/exit, shallow depths and scenic both above and below the water.

If you are unable to find buddies for next week, you might try contacting some of the Cape dive shops for ideas. I know that Sea Sports in Hyannis (508.790.1217 -- not sure if they have a working web site at the moment) has scheduled weekly Wednesday evening DM-led dives at Sandwich.

Also, talk to Mike Walls at the Dive Locker -- very nice guy who used to manage the LDS I use here in the Boston area. He just opened the dive locker this year, and may have some other ideas about ways to get some diving in.

Good luck!

Anybody else interested please let me know!:D

id love to dive with you, but im also a newbie with only my open water dive cert dives under my belt so far...guess we all start somewhere huh, maybe we can plan something.

Chris - Thanks! Sea Sports IS doing a regular Wed. dive at Sandwich, and I'll be there (next Wed, the 9th). Would love to see others there as well! :)

If you're interested in diving today, let me know. I live here on the Cape year round and would like to dive today.
