I'm a Fish!
We used to be able to click on the video icon, and then paste the share code from Youtube....now you just get a link with no embedded video--which is really lame.

If you try using the Youtube icon on the next line down, you get an embedded video window that stays black--no video will populate it.

This has been over a month like this I think....What is the issue?

It must be something in your video url since the video icon works fine:
(not my video just one I randomly grabbed off Youtube)

[video=youtube;bNucJgetMjE]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bNucJgetMjE[/video]

You can try it the "old" way also. Surround everything after the v= in your Youtube url with our .vbulletin youtube embed codes.

This - [yt]bNucJgetMjE[/yt] - yields this:

for a higher quality, larger video, replace "yt" with "youtubehq"

If you still can't get it to work post your complete Youtube URL so I can see it. I might be able to figure out the problem

All the video embed code options are here - mostly at the bottom - http://www.scubaboard.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode

Simply using the video icon and pasting the full YouTube URL works for me on a PC, Windows 8, using Chrome...

hello Dan and thank you for reporting this issue. If you don't mind can you please provide a link to one of the pages where your video is not displaying so that I may view your embed code and the video itself

Thanks

Here is one :)

And lets try this...using the video icon tool....
[video]https://youtu.be/8VlSep291t8[/video]

and this using the YT icon tool...
You know I have posted massive numbers of videos to Scubaboard, over the last few years, using the icons.....this issue with the icon tools not working is new.

Entered by an iMac using the current Safari Browser...

---------- Post added May 3rd, 2015 at 12:52 PM ----------

Just switched to my PC to see if different operating system or different browser will have an effect....... So here running windows 8.1 and using current chrome browser....

Here is a video added to the video icon code....
[video]https://youtu.be/sezhdjQRuOs[/video]
and this does not work as an embedded player.

And here the same video with the YT icon...

---------- Post added May 3rd, 2015 at 12:58 PM ----------

And on Pc again..this time with Internet Explorer and the video icon....

[video]https://youtu.be/8VlSep291t8[/video]
Which fails to form the video player as it is supposed to....

And when I add the video using the YT icon with IE,

---------- Post added May 3rd, 2015 at 01:03 PM ----------

Another try using the SB code as Diversteve suggested

[youtubehq] https://youtu.be/8VlSep291t8 [/youtubehq]

Maybe some IP's are not working with the SB server software?
Maybe some SB "user names" have been flagged for some reason, like bAD BEHAVIORS...and for some reason, this is changing the posting of videos with code?

????

It's a YouTube problem. Youtube is adding feature=youtu.be to the end of your video url's which is throwing off the embed. I don't know how to get around that. Maybe Howarde has an idea. I suspect it's something they do to videos posted more recently in your "channel"

Ex: here's the actual complete URL for the first one you linked to^ that doesn't work:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VlSep291t8&feature=youtu.be

Whereas when I use the video icon with one of your older videos - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtibrFkseJI - it works fine:

[video=youtube;ZtibrFkseJI]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZtibrFkseJI[/video]

Oh, wait, I've got it. You paste the URL into the Video Icon window then manually delete the feature=you.tube part before saving. Apparently it works with/without the ampersand also.

first example:

URL saved in the Video icon window:

[video=youtube;8VlSep291t8]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VlSep291t8&[/video]

[video=youtube;8VlSep291t8]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VlSep291t8&[/video]

without the ampersand

[video=youtube;8VlSep291t8]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VlSep291t8[/video]

[video=youtube;8VlSep291t8]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8VlSep291t8[/video]

I'm out...

Ok...I see what you mean....and it is not hard to fix with this knowledge.....But I would think it would be desirable to get the Youtube or Video embed Icon to have some code added to it, so they can be used for Youtube.

That's a question for Howard. I don't have access to the source code.

The instructions for using the [yt] embed code are (and always have been) to just use the video code itself like "aZqinXedHNM"

so to embed this video, you'd type [yt]aZqinXedHNM[/yt]

and you'd get this:

Easy.

I am not going to create a code that will strip out any potential &embed=youtu.be or whatever.

I hope this answers your question.

Thank you.
