Hi folks, i need help. I have read so much on the board so far and have decided i would like to buy a haclylon bp/wings. Sounds easy huh? Well everytime i try to do this i get a beeldin' headache!!

Well i live in ireland and NOBODY stocks them....
The setup i'll have is a single tank so i think the pioneer wing would be best as far as i can see. It is designed for single tank use.

I have no problems about buying online and am actually forced to do so. I looked at scubadiscount.com and they do indeed sell them but it looks suspiciously like a rip off. About 500 for the bp+wings and then another 120 for integrated weights ( i also want int weights btw ).

Can anyboidy point me in the right direction for an online shop ( no www.ebay.com links please ) that are selling these items and also are not trying to rip me off.

Cheers
Go raibh ma agat.

$500 is a good price for a Halcyon Backplate and Harness. I Paid $450 about 2 years ago for mine. I bought it off the net too.

Assuming you're using USD currency units, that's approximately the going lowest rate here in the US.

Check out:
www.extreme-exposure.com
www.fifthd.com
www.lloydbaileysscuba.com

Lloyd had the lowest prices last I checked.

Also check out:
www.oddessydivecenter.com

It's a Canadian shop, which supposedly has lower prices than anywhere in the US for Halcyon gear.

too right, 30 squid for a backplate seems like a real bargain. However i forgot to metion that this would be my first backplate + wings purchase and would have a clue howto set it up....
i think it might be best to buy the full set from a retailer rather than build my own...

There is a good guide to rigging a backplate here:
http://www.gasdiving.co.uk

Some help from a more experienced user would be very good before you actually dive with the kit. Here your LDS might be better than mail order, although a club would be better still.

Hi swinger,
have a look at www.divebag.co.uk
they post all the cheapest prices in the UK for diving kit.
halcyon goods in UK are governed by the fair price price list thingy so a BP/harness/pioneer wing and some accesories would be US$505 and about $424 quid. a halcyon UK prist list can be found at www.divedorset.com
also if you have a look at halcyons website, they have the details of an Irish retailer.
good luck in the second round of the WC. there is only one R Keane and it aint Roy!
cheers,
James

By 'wrong' do you mean the backplate is upside-down or do you mean there is one more D ring than there is supposed to be? ;)

I don't want a DIR debate, I just meant that the gasdiving websight has clear instructions with good pictures and where it does deviate from DIR an explanation is given.

Scuba Swinger,

The backplate that NickJB gave you the link for is the same one that I got in blighty B4 moving to Aus. It needed a bit of smoothing but for the money you ain't going to get better.

Used the same link to rig the harness as Nick mentions, just didn't put the 2 D-Rings on as I don't use thick gloves - the extra plastic waist buckle seems like a good idea and I'll use it if/when I get a canister light setup.

Later - Dave.

PS// Omar - stop fishing!!
