Interesting that in the User Control Panel we can exclude all forums from get new posts, except the new one, Media Announcements. I guess this type of advertisement is now the price we pay to get Scubaboard for free.

First,
They are not "paid for" and so are not advertisements. They are there for the various publications to get exposure on the largest publication devoted to diving.
Secondly,
I am not sure why they are doing this, but we will check into it.
