Does anyone have any experience with this Canon combo? I'm looking to getting into video and want to start out on the low $$$$ side.

I doubt you will find anyone with any experience with this combo, since the camera just became available in March and the housing in April. I would look at the reviews for the HF 200/20 to get a feel for the setup.

With that said, I just got (today) the HF M31 and the WP-V2 housing and it looks great and everything fit together nicely on the first try. The touch screen requires a gentle/slow touch, but if that is my worst complaint, I think I will enjoy it.

I had read the manual before it arrived (available online in pdf format), so I had a pretty good idea of how the controls worked. Took it out of the box, plugged it in and started taking both videos and pictures with no effort.

I will try and write a trip report when I get back from my trip (leaving in 2 weeks).

Thanks for info. Where did you get your equip? Also, is there a significant difference in the Vixia vs the Legria models and where are you headed?

Bought my equpment from a variety of ebay sellers. I did talk with TJ at Submerge Camera - Underwater Photo and Video who was very knowledgable and helpful.

Did not look at the Legeria models - I wanted a simple, reasonably priced system and since the reviews on the HF 200/20 systems were mostly positive, I decided that it was the system to go with - upgrading to M30/31/300 series, since it was new was a no-brainer. I picked the M31 because it has 32 gb internal memory and you can add a 32 gb SDHC card and they can be used together, giving lots of recording time.

I am heading for a week aboard the Cuan Law in the British Virgin Islands.

Thanks for the info. BVI is nice. Pretty mellow diving. I’m going to go ahead and pull the trigger on the M300 and WP-V2.
