Guess, what, the new camera has been announced. Does anyone know anything about it yet? I know it takes a WP DC-70 housing. I am getting one, I think - will come out in September. Looking forward to the larger LCD 2.5" and the ability of the camera to automatically rotate the picture.
Any thoughts?

Haven't seen the SD550 yet, but I have the SD500. Only taken land shots, but I got it with the intent of getting the housing down the line. I mean, if they can improve upon an already great camera, it's gotta be a good thing. I haven't had any issues with the LCD size on the SD500, but the auto-rotate of pictures would be nice.
 
I am looking at the SD500 and SD550 too.
The housing for the SD550 is WP-DC80.
Since the LCD screen for the SD550 is larger the WP-DC70 may not fit.
 
I just got the sd 550 yesterday. It is awesome. I really like it. Some neat features - the camera knows it's orientation, so it will turn your pictures the correct direction for a slideshow. The LCD is huge. Almost the entire back of the camera. The pictures are NICE. 7.1 megapixels. Pretty good!
I expect that the housing will be available within a month. At least that is what Canon told me.
Did anyone else get one yet? Or am I the FIRST?

I am looking to get a small camera and am really tempted by the SD550 (along with the DC80 case). As noted, the case is not yet release but should be soon.

I understand the camera has few manual settings vs the Canon S70 which is the other option I'm considering. Given that I have a Canon Digital SLR with Ikelite case and strobes, I wonder if the lack of manual settings is really going to bother me on this set up. It's mostly to have a great camera on land, that I can use in the water if I'm on a boat that doesn't accomodate large set ups or doing a shore dive where my SLR is far from practical.
