I have a Canon S90 housed in an Ikelite Housing #6242.90. I am looking to purchase an external strobe. After reading articles, reviews, and opinions, I am currently looking at either purchasing a Sea & Sea YS-110a or Ikelite DS-160 or 161, and a FIX UWL-04 Fisheye Wet Mount Conversion Lens - 67mm/52mm.

Can anyone recommend one strobe over the other? I like both strobes as they have more coverage and a higher GN than smaller strobes. The S&S and Ike have similar recycle rates, areas of coverage, and GN's. I do like the fact that the S&S takes regular batteries and have heard that the Ike's LED movie light is a bit weak at 15 watt. However, I am wondering if the Ike would be more compatible with my Ike housing (meaning less connectors/cords, etc., to worry about breaking). Any truth in this?

I am hoping someone can attest to one strobe over the other or another option that they would recommend with a Canon S90 in an Ikelite housing. Additionally, I am wondering if a single strobe is sufficient for general wide angle shots. Thanks.

I don't know about the movie light thing but if I were you, Inon D2000 and never look back, JMO.

I would not get the antiquated Ikelite strobe, another opinion, just me perhaps.

I have to agree with Nemrod on this one. I have the exact set up you do and the Inon D2000 and ULCS arms/tray is an outstanding package.

Same here. I took Nemrod's advise and purchased the d2000 and it made all the difference. Have the same set up as you, s90 and Ikelite housing, also the Inon wet macro lnes. Had used the sea and sea ys-27 and the 110, but found the d2000 far superior.

Same here, INON D-2000 and you will be happy!

The Sea & Sea YS-01 is cheaper, smaller nearly as powerful and matches up very well with the ultracompact housings and cameras.

I have used both the Ike and Inon. I realized that Inon is far more superior than the Ike especially if you have to attach 2 strobes to use with an wide angle lens. DS-160 is just to heavy to carry around. I had to resort to floating arms just to offset its buoyancy. Sea& Sea is just as bulky. You need to consider being streamline when using your set up under strong current conditions.
