Hi

I have a Cannon Powershot S60 with underwater enclosure WP-DC40. I've seen that photos taken with a red filter over the lens are far superior to that taken with my gear, I've looked everywhere I can think of for a filter for this enclosure but can't find anything.

Last year while diving in the Red Sea I saw a Fuji camera housing similar to mine and the guy was using some sort of plastic adapter with a Sony filter.

Does anybody know if these adapters are available for Canon enclosures, or does anybody have any tips for fitting filters, I have considered filter material that sticks to the inside of the enclosure but I'm not sure if this is succesful.

Cheers guys

Look up google for Magic Filters, theyre affordable and work with some amount of practice.

The filters work down to 15-20m. They let you keep nice reds without turning blue into gray.

You have a choice of two types. The original is probably best for your camera. You can either white balance manually, or just shoot RAW (I'd use program mode, ISO 100-200, exposure compensation - 2/3). The advantage of RAW is that you can change the white balance in post processing.

The newer one is called the Auto Magic Filter. It's designed for people who don't want to manually white balance. The disadvantage is that they lose more light than the original (about 1/2 stop). In your case, you have RAW so you can do whatever you want. Changing white balance on the Canons is so easy anyay.

These are a couple of my photos taken in Fiji. Olympus SP-310, Sea & Sea wide angle lens, no strobe.

Thanks guys, I'm gonna try out the Magic Filters while in Thiland the end of this month. I'll post some photos when I return.

Thanks for the tip.
