Has anyone had experience using the GS 9 with underwater caseing and external strobe for underwater photography? I bought one two weeks ago and it takes very good quality photographs and does RAW immages. Maybe it would make a practical underwater camera since it is so small? I want to get some opinions before buying the underwater casing and strobe.
Thanks for any opinions

I just picked up the G9 and the Canon underwater case last week (no strobe yet). Unfortunately conditions this past weekend prevented me from trying it out under the water. It looks like my next attempt at a dive will be November 9th, so I'll let you know how it goes then.

A few reports have been on here in the last month or so, I'm thinking they were all thumbs-up for this camera........do an above search(type in canon G 9)---you'll find them.........

I'll let you know in about a week to a week and a half. I just ordered a G9 and housing 15 minutes ago, it'll probably be here by Monday and will get wet by Tuesday.

If you've already got the camera, you might as well spring for the housing as it likely will cost you less than any other camera/housing combo you can find.

This is my first foray into Canon after a few years of Olympus use underwater. I'm looking forward to everything but learning a new menu format.

Aloha,

Although I have a G7 it is pretty much the same camera without raw and fewer pixels. If you will use the camera flash and don't intend on buying an underwater strobe I would go with a different camera. The large shape of the uw case covering the lense of the camera creates quite a shadow when using the camera flash especially when close up to subjects in macro mode.
