I currently have a G10 set up in a WP DC-28 case. I use it primarily for macro shots, however, I was considering getting a wide angle lens. I looked at the Inon UWL 100 but that seems to be a bit expensive if considered with the dome port. I've also checked out the Fantasea Bigeye but that seemed to have issues with the glare/condensation in the lower corners of the shot. Can anyone offer any advice ? or help guide me in my lens choice? Also any wide angle photo examples taken with the G9 , G10 or G11 would be very useful!

Thanks

What will that FIX setup set you back, about $1600? Before I dropped $1600 I think I'd have to give the Bigeye a try on my own since there seems to be some conflicting reports about it's problems. I'd try to find a dealer who is willing to stand behind it's performance and let me return it if I didn't find it up to my needs. But considering it's around $220, I think I'd be willing to take that chance.

Looking for examples, go to sites like Flickr and search for "G11 underwater" and you can find quite a few photos. Can't always tell if they were using an add on lens, but sometimes they do put in a comment or additional tag saying if they did.

These shots in Turk & Caicos were taken with a G9 in an Ike housing and about 95% with an UWL -100 .. even the close shots. All the video was taken with the UWL-100 attached.

If you're looking for wreck shots.. I don't have any of those.

I have the Fantasea Big Eye on my G10 and yes there are glare issues on the corner but are eliminsted by twisting the front ear covers. I understand this is a common issue with dome lens. The Big Eye compensates for the water distortion and restores the lens to 28 mm underwater as in topside. With a magic filter inside the WP-DC28 housing, I am satisfied taking video and stills with them.

There are some good options available for Canon G series wide angle and macro lenses & adaptors. For lenses try Dyron (France... but with agents around the World). Their wide angle lens (20mm) doesn't vignet with the G9/G10/G11 with the camera zoom set to full wide.
They also make a 67mm adaptor for most Canon square port housings, to screw the wide angle and their macro lens into.
Their lenses are good quality, the only thing I saw that wasn't perfect is the 67mm lens adaptor. It is made of plastic and it's not always easy to screw the accessory lenses into the thread. There is a black anodised aluminium version available from uwdigitalcamera.com (Mr Yuzo) in Japan. Its not on his website, but I have purchased them from him for my students. They are very easy to screw the lenses in & out of.

The adaptor almost looks like the one Keri sells to use with his subsee magnifier, with the exception that his is hinged so that you can simply swing the lens away from the port when you don't want to use it.

I have bought product through Yuzo before and can highly recommend going through him.
