My first thread here so bear with me. I have a Canon G1 and looking for a housing. Seems hard to find except I have a dealer checking with Ikelite who may have one on closeout. I am not opposed to buying a new setup for diving but not sure what approach to take. Do I look at a new digital camera and houseing or are there any decent cameras like Sealife's that you recommend. Just got my Open Water cert so I am aquiring equipment for the future. Thanks.

I also have a G1, great camera even at 3mp. Optics and auto focus one of the best from Canon! I did not really want to invest in an UW housing so I drilled another hole on the mounting plate of an old Ikelite SLR housing and bent the shutter lever to the camera, fits just fine. Only had the shutter control did not have time for the other controls like the aperature, worked fine.

Another nice thing about the G1 is that it has a hot shoe for easy strobe hookups. I have seen standard Ikelite SLR housings on Ebay for $50 with dome port (important) and Ikelite strobes for $100. Keep the G1, the Sealife does not even come close to the G1.
