Can some please tell me why does can keep lagging behind on there cameras. I'm talking about there p&s and g16... Same sensor!!!! It's getting to the point where its getting hard.. competition like the rx100 is killing them... Why does canon keep using the same senor and not go bigger ?????

Does the sensor matter?..I think the other things matter more.. Like lower noise level..better interface.. Of course if u do print out your photos, the megapixels counts a lot..but most of us are just shooting for keeping.. And posting on the internet..actually a 10megapixel is more than enough..

I did and it doesn't state anything about megapixel... I'm talking about sensor size not megapixels.

Actually Canon already has, it's called the G1 X and it didn't exactly set the world on fire. Ultimately it was still a P&S, just at DSLR prices.

The Canon G1X and almost APS-C sensor might be getting an upgrade according to Canon Rumors

Not that the current one was so bad (see photos below.) The larger 1.5" sensor definitely has some advantages IF you'll be making prints. For online sharing any camera will do :)

Then again people here like to measurbate versus selecting a camera and learn how to shoot photos with it :)

Photos below previously posted when I spent a week in Bonaire Aug. 2012 shooting nothing but a Canon G1X.
