Just bought the A610 (my first digital). I haven't even opened the box yet because I'm worried that I should have dished out the extra $100 for the A620 (store won't take a return if opened). Money isn't THAT big of an issue, but still don't want to pay for something I'll never use. So, is it true that if I don't do large prints, the 7.1MP of the 620 would be wasted on me? According to the specs I've seen, the two look exactly the same, except for the MP and the color.

Need help soon so I can move on with my life. :-)

In my opinion, if you're not going to blow up your pics or do a lot of cropping, the extra megapixels is probably just a waste. For me, I bout the a620 just in case I need that extra megapixels in the future. It'd be expensive if I decide later on that I did need those extra megapixels. That's just my 2 peso opinion.

The way I looked at it, taking larger pictures is the same as increased zoom, allowing you to crop down to the same size but with a greater emphasis on the subject. With a macro level of 1cm though, it may be a moot point.

the other thing to consider is the build quality.

If I understand correctly, the A620 is to the A95 as the A610 is to the A85. And there was a big gap between the A95 and A85 in build quality. I'd go back to the store and handle both of them... then decide which of the "frills" you like more (does the A620 have a metal case and the A610 not? How about the flip out LCD screen?
