Big Thanks to Vie for the links and JimC for all the excellent discussions on Li-Ion canister lights !!!

Luci:
Looking to buy a canister light 18 W HID or so. Need min 4 hours burn time. Major investment, gotta make the right choice (use: occasional cave diving, frequent Ontario wreck diving) Suggestions... ?

Halcyon seems most reliable quality/after sale service; Salvo good quality/price; OMS most durable

Did not find much about Dive Rite though... Any thoughts/comments ?
Much appreciate your input.

Since there's a bit of misinformation floating around, I posted my report from another forum for you here to consider and put a link to it below. I think you'll find that right now, Salvo has the unsurpassed service.

Kudos to Salvo Diving for Dive Light repair; Thumbs down to Halcyon warranty policy!

Luci:
thank you very much for that explanation double80s

i am curious about Li-Ion... lighter battery pack, seems to be the same output, longer burn time... sounds better than the NIMH ? is it really ?

thanks vie for posting the thread, Luci i am in the same boat as you. we have the same dilemma. making a wise choice in now easier.

been in touch with barry and as of this afternoon he has taken the 18w hid off the website and is mainly concentrating on the 21w. this will limit confusion between vendors and buyers with having too many parts and choices. if you ask me its a smart move.
