Is there a way of getting from Cancun to Roatan (and back) without having to spend ages changing in Houston or San Pedro Sula?

It depends on how fast you want to do it. There is a Captain who will sail you on down for not a lot of money. That would kill 24 hours.
Or... get to Belize BCE via Aerocaribe and hook up with either of the two airlines that flies right into RTB 6 times a week.

Thanks. Can you tell me more about the Captain? Seems to me that I can't be the only one who would be interested in this.
There are cheap flights direct UK to Cancun. Moving on to Roatan without having to go through the hell that is overnight in Houston (sorry Houston people - I mean the airport and the adjacent hotels) or Miami looks like an option.
Will also check out the flights.

I use Miami, Atlanta or Houston to connect from the UK. The perfect way to do it is,
Fly London to Roatan for about $1300 with TOTAL travel time in both directions less than 16hrs! NO OVERNIGHTING ANYWHERE!
London - Miami Sunday FLight BA207 Departs LHR 09.40 arrives MIA 1.45
MIami- Roatan Sunday TACA Departs MIA 16.05 Arrives RTB 16.20
Roatan - Houston Saturday 10.20 arrives Houston 14.05
Houston - London Saturday FLight BA2026 leaves 7.45 arrives LOndon 09.35 next day.

Thanks for that info. Roatan had pretty well dropped off our destination list because it so difficult to get to from the UK. We're booked up to fly into Cancun this summer, but we will look at it for another time.
