Cancun and playa del Carmen

Hi- I'm new to the ScubaBoard. I'm looking for advise on where to stay a couple nights in Cancun or Playa deal Carmen and a good dive shop. 3 adults and a new jr. Diver. Would like to dive the statue museum, a cenote and a reef, then heading to Cozumel by ferry . Any suggestions?
