The Mysterious Sinking of
HMCS Athabaskan

Sixty years ago this week, HMCS Athabaskan sunk off the coast of France. As one of the greatest naval disasters in Canadian war history, the sinking of HMSC Athbaskan is a riveting and important story, one that we explore in two excellent documentaries, Unlucky Lady and The Mysterious Sinking of HMCS Athabaskan.

Steve, buddy, dude... Please record this for me?? Please? I promise I'll come up soon and dive with you :P

You got it pal of mine!

I was just looking at how far it is from Gilboa to your house............Hmmmmmm

Damn, you gotta live closer to Erie man! Why don't you just move? tehehehehe

Between you and Mrs. "Punk", you'd save on gas to work!

The boat is ready to go when you arrive! (Almost).

Last week I fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 315am to find a show on deep diving on the canadian history channel and at the time they were covering U-869 aka U-WHO (sounds more like an aging irish-english rock music conglomeration than a sub ;-)
They did a reenactment of the Rouse's last dive and how they found and later identified the sub etc. Anyone know what the name of the show was ? Id like to see it from start to finish. Im assuming it was shown earlier in the evening as they usually do.
Anyone see it ?

Never mind, I checked that website and Im pretty sure it was Nova's "Hitler's Lost Sub

The last time i checked, Gilboa was almost 8 hours from our 'closer' office. That makes the 'Punk' residence a dead 10.5 hours from Gilboa. Jen just got a big promo at work, so I doubt we're going anywhere ;), but the inlaws are only 45 minutes from Erie, PA and 45 minutes from Barcelona, NY. Are you going through Pennsyltucky to go to Ohio, or going around the other side of the lake? Depending on the days you are travelling, I could 'visit' the inlaws that weekend and meet you along the way... Just a thought.

UWHooligan, I bought a copy of 'Hitler's Lost Sub' from PBS' online store for $20 USD. If you liked what you saw in the documentary, you need to get the book 'Shadow Divers' when it comes out at the end of June.

Tom, Sorry to highjack the thread. Proceed... :)

I'm going through the "other side" of the lake, nowhere near Pennsyltucky. I will however, be going to Barcelona? I think???? in the beginning of June. This might just be fastest way for....

That is, if you don't think you will be diving the Tiller before then.

I'm searching for a blank tape right now. Whadya think, do I tape over our wedding by "accident"???

hehehehehe

DAWG House.....(again). Yeah she's a good girl, but she's got her limitations. And you know the kind of fool I can be.

Yup, I'll get it right the NEXT time, Tom :-)

So I missed the first 7 minutes, and then I missed a couple during the tape change (You think I'm kidding?). The actual diving, which was the second hour, I got in it's entirety. I've got more stinking tapes with who knows what on them. (What's a labeller?)

Good enough Scuba-punk?

Of course I'm not the cheap SOB that actually tries to cram 6hrs onto a tape because the box says you can! Then you send it to your buddy, and he sees 5.5hrs of friggin SNOW, and he ain't looking out the window in January either!

Not that I'm complaining buddy!!!! But I never thought it snow that hard 230ft underwater on U869!

DAMN..... I'll give ya the money for a new tape or two :-)

hehehehe

Thanks for dinner again too, Scuba-punk. I know I know, I OWE YOU, but wasn't it Canadian gambling earnings? Did you declare them to Uncle Sam?
