Actually, over balanced pressure depth compensation was what I was referring to, I was confusing Apeks over balanced pressure depth compensation with balancing - and of course they are different things. I will just use the MK25's as they will be perfect and the rebreather needs a balanced design or it will be depth limited.

You do understand that balanced vs. unbalanced has zero to do with depth compensation, right? And that removing the environmental seal from an apeks or any other sealed reg, whether so-called "overbalanced" or not (actually that term is misleading) will also not disable the depth compensation, something that is designed into every scuba regulator? "Balanced" refers to how the regulator deals with changes in supply pressure, not with depth.

I guess I'm a little nervous that you're talking about building a complex device like a rebreather while you don't seem to have a good grasp of these really basic open-circuit regulator concepts. Maybe it's just in the terminology and limited communication format of an internet forum.

Yes, I am clear now on what I want to do. I don't want overbalanced, but do want balanced. So it needs to up the IP to cope with the reduction in tank pressure, but not over compensate with changes in depth. I'm not building a rebreather, merely changing the standard regs out for something better hose routing. All I need to do is to be able to get my MK25 IP down to 7.5 Bar and all will be fine. My posts have been somewhat misleading as I learned the correct terminology to what I wanted to know. The standard regs are balanced but not overbalanced. Hopefully this all makes sense now.
