So is it a Royal or a PRO dive 1st stage? I have looked in the net to see what I can find and nothing pops up on either. The Royal is the one that has the old style two hose and the pro dive does not even come up.

The 1st stage is a Pro Diver. Internally identical to the Conshelf series, and uses the same rebuild kit. The 2nds look like the generic plastic 2nds AL puts out these days. A perfectly fine regulator. Don't trash it.

I called Aqualung technical support-
This first stage still has rebuild kits available.
My sincere suggestion is to take it to an Aqualung dealer and have them pull out the repair manual and they will then tell you everything that you have.

I scoured the web myself and did not find anything on the first stage.

Best of luck and sorry for any problems.

The JM Cousteau Royale and the Pro Diver are the same thing. I've got a prodiver. Easily re-buildable using standard conshelf parts. Breathes great!

Here it is while I was rebuilding it.

Sorry, I had to find this thread again...

Doc set it straight with his last post, also Crazyduck is right - the second incarnation of this model was called "Prodive."

Here's a link to a NOAA safety warning concerning HP seat failures in the first stage (note name of regulators in the warning notice). This wasn't the problem I talked about in my first post, however. The original Royal (not the old double hose model, but the 2 stage model) had both large and small round holes on the coverplate of the second stage. The larger holes were in the center, the smaller on the outside. It free-flowed too much. The "slotted" style second stage cover replaced it.

The trade names this regulator went by include Royal SL, Royal Supreme, Pro Diver and ProDiver Supreme.

Hope this helps...

Well, if you have it rebuilt now, you should be getting the updated hp seat, so it doesn't matter.
