Thanks for the info. It has been about 20 years since I have been in Bonaire. I rented a condo back then. I have never stayed at one of the scuba clubs. I am thinking about booking at Buddy Dive Resort. I was just wondering if I should get the Solo Scuba Diver Certification. I had not heard of a Solo Scuba Diver Certification until one of the local dive shops said something about it.
Thanks again

I took the Solo cert course is Bon a while back and glad I did. Well worth it. Like others said you should not have an issue diving solo in Bon except possibly on a boat and even then you can dive solo, the most they may ask is to follow or otherwise be in visual of the dm on the deep part of the dive.

Only place I've been hastled was on Grand Cayman. They have a rule "strictly enforced" that you can't dive solo under any circumstances from shore. From a boat it's perfectly fine. They just want you to pay to boat dive. Everywhere else I've been, no one even asks.

Before I take the Solo Scuba Diver Certification class I want to make sure I can use it.
Will shops rent tanks if I have the Solo Scuba Diver Certification?
I have over 600 dives, and when I have my camera I like diving alone. I do it now, but at times it is not easy getting tanks. I use a pony bottle for safety. My kids are grown, and I am single. So it is a risk that is worth it to me.
show another card problem solved.

Whats the diving like in Bonaire?
Affordable shore diving (bring hard sole dive boots)
nice reefs, you can see dolphins, turtles, rays,... there's hundreds of different fish species, bait balls

You can read trip reports for Bonaire in the Greater Caribbean sub forum

I have rented tanks and dived solo in Bonaire. Did a couple night time beach dive solo, very cool.

Yes, you can rent tanks anywhere with a cert card. I would avoid going Dec-March. Shore dives with wind and friends that are not in the best shape is NOT fun with waves and rocks. Also, being part of an advanced group will reduce logistical challenges.
