Hi all,

I just bought a DUI CF200x drysuit secondhand. The suit currently has turbosoles on it. If I want to use rockboots, is it possible to remove the turbosoles from the suit, leaving just the neopprene sock? I don't have the suit yet, so I can't see how the soles are installed. Are they just glued on? Can I take a hair dryer to the sock to loosen the glue and peel the sole off, leaving just the sock, or are they on there for good?

Thanks,
John

Judging from how many pairs of rockboots I see for sale on E-bay and here, along with all of the people who I dive refusing to use them, are you sure you want to get rid of the turbo soles? If anything, have someone put neoprene socks on it, then you could use regular wetsuit type booties over the socks.

FWIW mine has turbo soles and I don't mind them. When they wear out I'll probably put socks on, but for now they work just fine.

Hey John,

I have a CF 200 with the socks and rock boots. Your best bet is to send it back to DUI and have it done properly. I would not recomend using any glue solvents or powerfull direct heat, you could do more damage than good. I don't even think separating them is possible.

Let me know how it works out.

This is mostly why I want to go with the rockboots. I currently dive wet, and after walking around the parking lot and beach in the flimsy, floppy wetsuit booties for a few hours my feet are killing me. They have no stiffness in the sole and no ankle or arch support. This is how I envision the turbosoles. Maybe I'm being too hard on them. I'll try them out and give them a chance, but I really like the idea of wearing something with more stiffness and support.

Not sure what kinda Wetsuit boots you are diving but the set that that i use are pretty much like a sneaker sole i use in the pool and than a floppy set i use else were. . . I dive With the rock boots and would not recomend them only because they are hard as crap to get in and out of my fins. . . yeah yeah i could buy bigger fins but who wnats to carry around that much more crap. . . The plus to the rock boots is if you are doing alot of rocky beach entries or are going to wear your suit around town. . . My next suit won't have rock boots but the Turbo soles. . .

But this is only ny opinion. . .

OHBTW I also hate the Velcro closure on the hip pockets. . . the zipper is better for putting stuff that doesn't have a snapon it IE Defog. . .

If that's the case, try the turbo soles first. They are stiff and quite comfortable and feel like a shoe. They feel nothing like a bootie.
I thought you had a different reason for wanting to change them out, like the wrong size or something. Like I said before, most people I know who have rock boots don't like them very much.

Thanks all. OK- I'll give the turbosoles a fair shake. The thought of not having to have two different sets of fins for wet/dry diving does sound nice.

If you decide to change these are the guys I'd use http://www.drysuitrepair.com/

For the DIY guys, or those who just want to know more and understand their drysuit better I recommend buying WETSUIT AND DRYSUIT MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

Hi Terry,

Great idea! I'm very familiar with Superfeet. Being a runner/triathlete, and having had a few bouts with plantar fasciitis, I now use superfeet in all my shoes- running, cycling, street shoes... I even had them in my slippers for a while when the pain was bad. I hadn't thought about using them in the turbosoles because I was concerned that the hard edge of the plastic part of the insole might eventually wear a hole in the neoprene sock. Do you not have a problem with this?

Thanks,
John
