I am thinking of diving in the Vancouver area this summer, and was wondering if any one knew of good places to camp. I do not like to camp when I open my door and look into my neighbors RV. I was looking at staying at Porteau Cove. I can not afford togo to Vancouver Island, it will cost about $500 to there and back.

Porteau Cove is a good choice. There are some spots better than others of course but it's a beautiful place to camp.

Couple things to know about Porteau Cove ...

- if you're planning to stay there during the summer months, reservations are pretty much a necessity ... at least on week-ends.

- if you're looking for a bit of privacy, the walk-in campsites are a better bet than the ones located along the paved road.

As Gray said, some are better than others ... but the ones along the water, which offer the best privacy, are also typically the first ones to get reserved.
