After reading that short list, anyone have any suggestions regarding who I might try
next?
Thanks a bunch,
Spencer

Since you liked Vince Flynn, I highly recommend:

- Lee Child - Has one main series with the same main character throughout. First book in the series is The Killing Floor:
Amazon.com: Killing Floor: Books: Lee Child
Very entertaining, and the quality has not declined (IMO) after numerous books like some other others I have read.

- Brad Thor - great books, very Flynn-ish

- You also might like some of Steven Hunters books. I like some more than others, but recommend:
Amazon.com: Point of Impact: Books: Stephen Hunter

- David Morrell - I like some of his older stuff better than the newer, esp. The Fifth Profession, etc.

Hope that gives you some good ideas.

Check out Colleen McCullough's Masters of Rome series. Seven books which chronical the collapse of the Roman republic. The series starts just before the rise of Gaius Marius and ends with the establishment of the principate by Augustus.
