Got me a brand new one today! :)
The housing is on its way...

Any tips for a wannabe photographer?

Am I going to be the only guy on the "Bonaire 2005" trip without a camara?

My wife doesn't dive but she uses an A95 while snorkeling. She uses the Canon housing, too. It takes great pictures and is easy to use. The only drawback is it doesn't shoot in RAW. We've noticed that it's a bit of a battery hog, so have a spare set on hand. I think if you adjust the sleep mode of the camera so that it stays on longer, rather than turning off too soon, the batteries will last longer. Turning it on and off an lot is what I think was consuming the batteries.

i think they are batterhy hogs if you use the disposable batt types. i got the nimh rechargable and they certainly last much, much longer. got my camera two weeks ago and dive tested for the 1st time yesterday. the manual setting are hard to get used to and most of my pics were blurred, guess i have to get the hang of the settings:)

I bought some high quality rechargeables, and they lasted for 8 dives over three days of diving. The A-95 has a special mode for underwater shooting, but I havent tried it yet. The zoom on the camera is ok, nothing special though. The camera also takes forever to focus.

We were using 2300MHA batteries at the time, the same ones I use in my C5050 and Inon D-2000 strobe. However, her camera was still going dead. Once I adjusted the camera to stay on longer, before automatically shutting down, we haven't had a repeat of the problem. It seems that the fact that she had to repeatedly turn the camera back on was eating up the batteries.
