Ok i decided to post this topic here because instead of uw photography since this will be on land and not underwater but if im wrong someone can move it. I am currently in a intro to professional photography class and one of our major assignments for the entire semester is to create a 12 month calender with a cover with a certain theme. Next week i need to present three themes and one of my themes is going to be a SCUBA theme. So i decided to post up on here and see what specific theme can you guys come up with for 13 different pictures. Here are some of my ideas:

Dive boats of So Cal (though this may be a bit harder because im renting out a medium format camera for school and dont want to risk getting it wet:11: plus have to call all the boat captains).

Beach dives of so cal (if i do this theme i may need some volunteer divers to pose :lotsalove:)

Equipment of Scuba

Dive stores of So Cal

and thats all i can think of so what do you think..ohh and i could also make extra calenders if anyone would be interested but i may have to charge since i do supply my own paper but its not gonna cost much since its just a passion of mine..the class ends in december so its right before xmas!

I think the beach one would be cool. When I visted my friends out in the Santa Ana area, we went to a lot of different beaches between Laguna Beach and San Deigo. Granted, it was freakishly cold when I visited so we didn't actually go in the water for anything, but the beaches were still pretty.

You could have a diver peeking out from behind a pier support, a good sunset pic with a diver in silloutte heading toward the ocean, and maybe one of a silly diver posing on some rocks like a mermaid.

With the gear theme you could do crazy, close-up, weird angle photos of gear. For example, you could have a pic of a tank hooked up too the octo, but just focus in on the valve area and maybe skew the shot so the tank doesn't look completely vertical.

Good luck,
Shannon

Dress up a dork diver to look like Waldo, and photograph him amidst a school of clownfishes, or hiding in the kelp below. :D

Since lobster season starts in a month, how about a series of shots about bug hunting? You could do it all in one or two nights. Make arrangements to meet up with some divers going bug hunting...photograph them coming out of the water with full game bags, posing proudly with their catch...unique shots of the lobsters themselves...

Or the theme could be "opening night". Shots of divers barbecuing on the beach before the dives begin at midnight...divers sharing dive stories around a campfire...then all the rest of the bug/diver shots.

(Can ya tell I can't wait for opening night?) :D
