I will be travelling to Cairns, Australia for 3 days in late August and would like to get a few dives in. Looking for advice on dive sites, boats, hotels, even good place to grab a drink/hear some music.

I am a beginning diver with 10 logged dives. I prefer dives that are less than 20 meters as I have not perfected the breathing thing and seem to empty the tank too quickly.

Thanks for your help

I dove with Deep Sea Divers Den when I was there six years ago and thought they were a good outfit. Their instructor was one of the only ones that actually knew what my Los Angeles County c-card meant. Of course he referred to it as a "museum piece."

I did a 3 or 4 day liveaboard on the outer reef with them, but they offer day trips as well.
