My wife and I will be travelling next month (March) to Australia and plan to arrive in Cairns on 3/20. We want to do a 3d2n trip and have narrowed to a few choices via internet. Can someone make a suggestion based on my research or other option?

I've found spots available on Oceanquest, ScubaPro and Kangaroo Explorer that fit our dates/budget. We're both PADI-certified and haven't been diving for last 7years (since 1st child) and want to get back in the water. Thanks in advance for guidance! :)

Dan,

Two things I note out of your inquiry, first is your a couple with children now, we all get a little older .... so maybe boat comfort now has a little to do with your decision. One of the boats your canvassing to me is more for backpackers.

Secondly, that your a little rusty, so guided dives may help. Be aware that your selections all have Learn to Divers on board who have just completed 2 days pool and theory. I dont neccessarily ( did I spell that right ) think that this is to much of a problem 4 you .... or is it.

Budget difference between the three.... about $50.

Scuba , the boat you start on is the boat you finish on, the other 2 boats have day boats that transfer you to the Mothership. This to me means that your diving doesnt start till after lunch on day one. I know you may consider 3 days to be a long time however I consider every hour to be important.

Finally, the 20th is a Thursday....... may be able to consider Taka Friday departure if your flexible with your dates. Its a long way to come.... and as my buddy mike Ball says, this could be the trip of a lifetime.

Finally, if your feeling young at heart, like a bit of sailing with very very small groups, I have one more option.

Cheers Andy

Andrew, Thanks so much for the info. Will sit down with my wife and review our options and your suggestions. I've enjoyed reading your other comments on other threads as well! thanks again. dan

Which boat is that? I'll be going over to Oz in 2009 by myself as part of a multi-destination trip. I'd like to keep the costs low where I can. Thanks

My wife and I will be on one of the Scubapro boats in a little over a week. Any words of advice?
