Wow, what a difference in price between two websites! In prepping for an Aug26-28 trip, I looked at both last year's rental agency (Payless Cars) and Hotwire. The former wants $589.51 for a compact for two days and two hours. Hotwire, who rent Hertz and Avis cars, wants $22.71-$27.47/day, for a total of about fifty bucks -- Less Than 10% of A Cheap Agency! I'm flabbergasted, not only at the savings, but how much CSL cars cost in prime season. The Labor Day weekend marks a huge seasonal shift, obviously. (I was there in Sep. last year, and paid about forty bucks a day through Payless for a dandy VW Pointer wagon.)

Hey thanks for the update, I haven't rented mine yet, but did rent last year.

We head down there several times a year. No matter how good a deal I think I get on the web, I always get screwed - or so it seems. The only way to offset the high costs is to take in a couple of timeshare presentations that will knock off a hundred bucks or so.
