My wife and I are going on a cruise out of San Diego on April 28, 2008. Being the good husband that I am, I had to compromise on my dive plans to Cazumel. I agreed to the cruise as long as I got 1 dive trip in. We will be arriving in Cabo at 08:00 and departing at 5:00 pm. I would like for us to be able to get at least 1 trip of a 2 tank dive in. Can anyone shed any light on which dive operation would be the best for us. This will be our first trip to Cabo. We are both Advanced Open Water certified and would like to do some Reef diving in about 40 to 50 ft of water or shallower if posible. The rooms are small on the ship and I want to take our BC's and reg's but I'm not sure about being able to store everything on the ship. I will take our regs and computers for sure. Thanks for any Input.

I swam out from shore (if I remember right)to the Arches, early in the morning and had an awesome dive. (I think I was the Ritz, or the El Presidente...I've stayed both places.

Anyway TONS of fish. I went back later in the afternoon and the viz had gotten bad. On an incoming, I think even the shore dives on the Sea of Cortez side can be great.

I'm worried your timeline might not let you make the am charter. But...in Mexico all is possible. I think I'd book a private DM (not expensive) and go for a few shore dives, maybe.

My wife and I just returned today from Cabo. Most of the dive shops will do dives at 9:00 and 11:00 AM and 1:00 pm, but will want to know the day before. We went with Baja Dive this time. They did a good job, but ran a little slow. The first dive was just my wife and I with the DM, but was about 1 1/2 hours late. The shop called while on the SI and said a guy from one of the Cruise Ships was going to come out for the second dive. So we waited for him to come out on a water taxi and made the second dive at around 1:00 pm. They made sure he got back to the dock to catch his ship, the dive sites are just out side the harbor entrance anyways. The diving was actually the best I have had for Cabo. Water was 66 at 113'. The vis was 40' plus, which is better than I have had there.

Well the diving was great. My wife and I went diving with Oscar at Deep Blue diving. He was great and knew our interests, and made our dive a great experience, and a vacation to remember. Next time I get to Cabo I'll dive with Deep Blue and Oscar again.

As you probably know, the best Cabo diving is in late summer - August to November. That's when the water is the warmest and the visibility the greatest. For comprehensive lists of dive sites, operators, restaurants, hotels and current dive conditions, please visit our new informational Web site at http://www.BajaDivers.com.

R.J., thanks for the Web site. We are planning to visit Cabo again in October, but this time we are flying down and spending a week in Cabo. We were a little rushed by being on the cruise ship, next time we want to relax a little more. A High School friend has a bar-club-resturant in Cabo, so maybe we can hook up with him next time and see more of Cabo.

Skipper: Our site also lists a number of good restaurants, bars and hotels, so be sure to take advantage of the free info before your next trip. And if your friend's establishment isn't listed, have him drop us a line using the contact form at BajaDivers.com. I'll be there (Cabo) permanently beginning December 1st, so maybe we'll run into each other on a dive boat! :)
