California Ships to Reefs, Inc. (CSTR) is pleased to announce that its Board of Directors has agreed to support Rainbow REEF, a sit-com (situational comedy) that is in development by Riding with the Whales Productions co-founders JT Quinn and Danilo Di Julio. The show is based around a scuba diving store and the many interesting characters found in the scuba diving industry. The developers also aim to highlight a number of the real world environmental issues that affect our oceans. Both JT and Danillo have personally expressed support for CSTRs mission and the environmental benefits of responsible artificial reefing such as those proposed by CSTR.
We proudly support their efforts to showcase scuba diving, the scuba diving lifestyle and the value of accidental/artificial shipwrecks, in a light hearted way, said Greg Wolf, CSTRs Public Information Officer.
The shows premise:
Jack McGowan lives the high life in the fast paced, white collar world of the stock market but, when his boss is arrested for insider trading, Jack goes from Wolf of Wall Street to the doghouse overnight. After a few months of misery, Jack finds an old email from his old Uncle Chet, who has passed away and left him Rainbow REEF, a ramshackle scuba shop.
Jack flies out planning to sell the shop, fly back to New York and use the money to get back into the stock game. When he gets to the REEF however, he soon discovers he is in for more than he bargained for in business, love and battle!
Jack meets a cute girl, Lisa when he first arrives and soon discovers she's his chief dive instructor. He also meets Mr. Krampus, played by the legendary Mr. Ed Asner, who turns out to be Jack's new nemesis and worst nightmare!
Will Jack stay and fight for Rainbow REEF or will he head back to the Big Apple? What are Mr. Krampus' plans for the scuba shop and its good hearted yet quirky crew of employees? And what about Lisa? Will Jack ever see her again?
You never know what might happen out on Rainbow REEF.
For further information on Rainbow REEF check out the Facebook page at Rainbow REEF. You can also contribute to the shows crowdfunding campaign starting November 14th on Indiegogo.com.
Also, at DEMA on Friday Nov. 21st you can meet the cast and get the show pitch in person from the producers, followed by a personal appearance by the cast at the CSTR booth (#229) on the DEMA floor where they will take pictures and sign autographs.
California Ships to Reefs is a 501(c)(3) non-profit public benefit corporation seeking to reef surplus ships and other materials as artificial reefs, enhancing the ocean environment, and bringing diving and fishing tourism to local ports in California.
