Got a C5050. Great camera, had it about a year and a half. However, just recently, last month or so, I've noticed the camera is starting to have occassionial problems focusing underwater, both in the autofocus mode and out. Problem isn't depth or vis dependent, usually occurs on more distant shots. Anybody else experience this same problem with their 5050?

What mode are you using? If you are shooting in program (P) mode, then you want to look at the exif and see what shutter speeds the camera is choosing. The camera's tiny brain isn't all that smart and will often select shutter speeds slower than 1/60. At those slow speeds, you cannot hold the camera steady enough and the images are blurred.

Does the same happen on land?

One thing you can check is to make sure the focus is in the correct mode for the given object distance ie Macro for 20-80cms and AF for 80-infinity. Sometimes I fine iESP better than Spot and vice versa. Or bump the zoom back a notch.
