Hey guys,

Me and a couple of friends were planning a trip to Cairns but it turned out to be a little out of our budget. We're currently looking at Byron Bay as its closer to us and cheaper with great dive reviews. I was wondering whats the cheapest dive package available along with accommodation.

I found these rates, but is this the only dive package available in Byron Bay?

Anyone has any recommendations, dive sites, packages, please be sure to pitch in!

Thanks

University mid-semester break.

So we'll be available from the 25th of September to October 5th.. We're looking to dive as much as we can.. we figured 4 days at least would do. More is always welcome.

I can't advise you about cheapest packages, but I can tell you that we did two days of diving in Byron Bay and stayed at Planula Lodge, and I'd go back in a heartbeat. The diving was great, and the lodge was very comfortable and completely set up for divers. The town is very pleasant and has some excellent restaurants, and the bay is beautiful.

You can read my report of our trip HERE.

Says Tim .... who's one of the owners

No seriously we can put any dive package together for you but try to book in early as that period is close to getting full (we only have 5 rooms - doubles, singles and triples possible)

More info on the Planula website

Any questions, just call or email.

Cheers

Tim

Hey Mood,

You'll love Byron, has some great diving.

Planula is great, the owners are awesome people. If it's a little out of your price range though, try contacting one of the dives stores, and they can help you out with a package staying at a backpackers.

Speaking of dive stores, I dive with Sun Dive Byron Bay every few weeks. I've dived with the other store there too, but just didn't find they had the same atmosphere.

Either way, you're going to have a blast.

Ry.

One other thing, don't feel like you have to wait for holidays to get down there, we often do Byron from Brisbane in a day trip, it's down to about a 1 1/2hr drive now! Seeing the boat ride out is only about 10 minutes, beats the pants off sitting on a boat here for 1-2 hours in bumpy conditions!

Hey Aussie Diver,

Thanks for the info! Ive looked at Sun Dive Byron Bay but no trip prices were on their website. Can you tell me about those Brisbane to Byron Dives. Im really interested in diving in Byron and is much better than the Gold Coast Sea Way.

Thanks!

Sundive's dive prices are up at Daily Dive Schedule at Sundive

If you give them a call, they'll tell you about accommodation as well. We were down there last weekend, stayed in the backpackers next door to Sundive, cost $25 a night. Nice and cheap, and not far to go! You won't find a whole trip package if that's what you're looking for. Book your accommodation and your dives, and you're set.

Sorry, I didn't mean Brisbane to Byron Dives. We just drive down ourselves most weekends to dive with sundive. There's a few dive stores in Brisbane that do head down there every now and then though if you don't have access to transport. I noticed Deep Scuba were down there last weekend while I was there, and have seen Pro Dive down there a bit too.
