What a great time,
We spent a whole month in the B VI's this trip and got to do some amazing dives for our show.
I am amazed how I can do dive after dive on the same spot and each dive seems different.
Clarity was in the 40 -70 foot range depending on where we dove.
We got some great shots of corals, fishes and structures, Had a way to close mishap with a turtle and found an ancient fish holding pen that dates back to the pre-rum and slaves era on Jost Van Dyke. It was a rock wall built by the early natives to make an in the water holding pen. It would have been very effective except that the water level has risen and now you can swim in and out of the pen. Very cool.
We did hope to do a report on Reef Check but our trainer person had a medical emergency with her husband and so it fell apart after that. We will try again in season two.
We did finally dive the Rhone and got to actually see it. The last two attempts we enjoyed the surrounding areas so much we ran out of air before we got to the wreck. This time we dropped directly on the stern section and the currents pushed us gently over the entire wreck and back to our boat. In fact it was amazing. We tied our chartered Lagoon 440 sail cat at a mooring ball near the bow section. We then hadour charter captain use the dingy to drop us on the stern section. When we were ready to make our ascent we were right at the mooring line to our yacht. If you didn't know us you would have thought we planned it that well. We didn't, just got lucky.
More later! Don't forget to watch our show on Versus network. It premiers on Tuesday September 28th at 9:30 AM EST. Search your listings for "Travelers In Paradise"
