Just returned from Saint Thomas..dove the rhone not overly thrilled, a long haul and time wasted on customs BS. It was a nice day-cruise and trip via the islands..lunch included was not bad. Went via Chris Sawyer on St Thomas..excellent service, friendly and helpfull crew.

I enjoyed the "cows" site the most, less then a half hour from the dive operation in Saint Thomas. Best coral heads and swim thru's I ever saw. Really enjoyed a night dive of the Major general rogers..lots of growth, morays, discovered some barber pole shrimp. Almost a full moon..lights not really needed but turned the black and white scene into vivid color.

Every day was 85 degrees and 80 degree water...can't beat it. Bring the Sun Block!

chester:
I just wanted to thank everyone for the advice... most of my ttime during the past few weeks has gone into planning my trip for next weekend to Key Largo and Crystal River (diving 2/23, 2/24, and 2/26 in Largo with SilentWorld and on 2/26 with Capt. John @ Crsytal River). But I really do appreciate all of the info you each have provided...

For the BVI trip (based on advice given here), we've decided to utilize the rendevous service when we get there (how cool is that?)... but still haven't determined which shops and which dives to do yet. But I have decided to include the Rhone... I just can't go there and not dive that one. So, I still need to pick the 3 or 4 other dives (and the lds').... I will be looking for more info as the trip nears (it's in July/August)... I'm really excited about returning to (and finally diving) the BVI's.

Thanks again everyone! This board is sooo cool. :14:
Like a few other people, I second (third, fourth, whatever) that you should definitley use Dive BVI. We've used them for 4 years in a row and they are top notch. I only have experience with the Leverick Bay crew, so my opinion is probably biased in that direction. Cori is a great divemaster working in Lev., Kevin is a riot (good diver too), and Nathan is funny in his own special way. Dive BVI is the only operator in the BVI with nitrox, which is cool for the Chikuzen and Wreck Alley.

As for what to do other than the Rhone, I highly suggest the Chikuzen if the weather is decent. Other than that, just ask them to take you somewhere good and it'll be good.

(PS Cori if you read this, this is one of the "J's from Arkansas")

Yes the Dive BVI Leverick Bay is cool. If you're there again.. tell them I say HI and also Alex for the Resort.. they buy our swordfish and tuna fresh from our boat! yummmy!

Cool, that's handy. We met a local fisherman who lives down in the valley a few trips back, so fresh fish and lobster is a regular treat! :D *drool*
