I"m looking to buy my first regulator. There are so many choices out there.
I think I have narrowed it down to 3, and would love any opinions from peolpe who own or have used them.
Aqualung Titan micra, Sherwood maximus and the Atomic Z2.
Any recommendations, or thoughts, good and or bad would be great
Thank alot

I am not familiar with the Micra, but the Aqualung Titan is a good basic Reg, and the AL Legend is a strong performer. Scubapro (I dive with a MK20/S600) and Apeks are also excellent Reg sets.

First question would be for you to determine what depths and temperatures you will be diving. If you are going deep and cold, your requirements will be much different than shallow and warm.

I'm sure the board will provide lots of good information, and I would also check out Scuba Diving Magazine for their Gear Review for some comparison data.

Good luck with your search!

Congratulation on your first purchase, sometimes I think buying regulators is like a cancer, because I own 25. You have some great choices, and I've had experience with all of them. I have nothing against the Atomic, just too much money for what you get.I hate the Sherwood second stages, but love the first stage, extremely durable.

I just bought my first reg, I got an Apex TX50. I have not used it as yet as my launch was changed on Sunday and I could not make the dive. (Bummer!)

The best reg I have dived with was a Mares full metal, I am not sure what sub make it was, all I know it was the wettest reg I have ever used. I loved it.

So congratulations on getting you very first reg, it is really exciting!

Atomic Regulators are very good regulators,But I choose to dive scuba pro,Why?
Service program is great, any where you dive in the world you will find scuba pro.
They have been around a while and have always produced good products.
The MK 2/R295 Is low cost and very reliable, Good sport diver regulator.
If your diving deep or its for tech diving MK17/S600 or MK 25/s650
Mk 17 enviromentaly sealed diaphram , Mk 25 Balanced piston ,Both second stages are balanced.
Be sure and get a balanced first and second stage system.

I like my Maximus for the under arm hose routing. Nice regulator and does not cost an arm and leg to get serviced.
