Anyone tried using Nomad eSim data plan while traveling in Asian countries? Thanks!

I have lived, worked, or holidayed is pretty much every country in Asia except Burnei and N. Korea (for obvious reasons)

I have MobiMatter, Airalo, Holafly, Nomad e-sim apps and yeah sometime I use them on occasion but out of all 4 of them I never use Nomad. It is always the most expensive. I have found Mobimatter to have the best prices.

Bu for Asia if your looking for the best price and your going to spend spending any good amount of time there the best is to just buy local SIM cards. I have found buying local SIM cards about 99% of the time to be much cheaper than e-sim. For example as I am writing this I am in Indonesia on holiday and here is the Nomad price vs. the Telkomsel local sim card I got in country. Local sim card is 60,000 IDR ($3.85 USD) for 50GB for 30 days. Closest thing Nomad has is $39 for 20GB for 45 days and you can even see they list Telkomsel as the network provider (Smartfren is a joke, horrible coverage and speed) Why pay $40 for the same thing that cost $3.85 for over twice teh data.

The exception to this would be if your bouncing around back and fourth in multiple countries. When I am doing this I usually get one of the multi country pack e-sims from MobiMatter because it does end up being about the same of cheaper then buying 4-5 different sim cards to use in a 1 month span. Also for China e-sim is really the only way to go as well because I found it to be very very difficult as a foreigner to get a sim card. A Chines business partner actually had to get the sim card as if it was for him while using my phone as if it was his.

What country/countries are to looking at using the e-sim for?

Thanks, @GF99/99. May I know if one can get the Telkomsel sim card at the CGK airport? I plan to spend some time in Indonesia, and, maybe the Philippines.

Once you collect your bags from the baggage claim and exit the secure area there is a big red Telkomsel counter (if my memory is correct you take a left when you exit the door). They can set you up with a sim card. You can download the Telkomsel app to check your data usage and to top it up if you need more.

Oh yeah and for the Philippines check Globe. Last time I think I paid about $7 for 25GB but its been a while since I have been in the Philippines. Also protip buy the sim card outside the airport at a local shop they are much cheaper

I was using an Esim in multiple Asian countries, and that's why it was the cheapest. I used it in Singapore, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam and Japan. I realize most people don't go to that many places, but I had a 14 night Asian cruise, and then went to Bali and Japan after. Getting a long term Nomad Esim was the way to go. (And I only needed data.)

We're heading to Bali and Raja Ampat (RADL) for a couple of weeks and wondering if anybody has suggestions for the best/most reasonable eSim package for those locations? Many thanks!
