Long story short: lost a weight pocket on my first dive in Cozumel. Need a new one, no one knows of a shop that sells a weight pocket. Anyone know a store I can go get on for the rest of my dives? Have a car. Staying in Iberostar.

If you are looking for pockets for integrated weights, then it's going to depend on the brand of BCD you have. There are a couple of shops downtown that are pretty easy to google. There is also Cozumel Scuba Repair which is east of downtown. You may also consider calling some dive ops who rent gear (which is most/all of them) and see if they rent BCDs of the same brand as yours. Maybe they'll loan/rent you a pocket from one of their rentals.

Those are my ideas if I were in the same situation.

I had a similar issue. I got on the plane with my weight pockets at home. I quickly learned that there aren't any "real" dive shops in regard to retail. There are some random surf shops that have mask/fins and some pawn shop style stores that have a faded BCD from the 70's.

Luckily I anticipated this and brought some trim pockets that I could slide on my webbing.

If you can get ahold of some webbing, i'd make a weight belt. Depending on the type of BC you have and how much weight you need, you could also just slide the weights on to your can-band or cumberbun webbing. I think it goes without saying that adding non-ditchable weight to any setup comes with risk.

Typically replacement weight pockets are something that are ordered by a dive shop for a specific BCD. I doubt any shop would just sell you a pocket out of an existing BCD thus leaving them with one missing from what they have to sell. I would just get a weight belt from your dive op and see if they have a softer comfortable one you can rent, vs the old fashioned nylon strap kind. When you get home just order a new pocket online. In the future if you have a concern about it order two and pack a backup.

Appologies, I have a backplate and wing. I am lookin for weight pockets that just slide onto a belt.

Thank you for the info on Cozumel Scuba Repair.

ProDive on the corner of Rosada Salas and Avenida 5 has some retail inventory.
