What I minute as anal as DIR is about extra failure points and being streamlined and you can't even admit an SPG on a hose has extra failure points and is less streamlined???
I don't think DIR is anal about failure points at all. I think we are strategic about failure points. Hence not using AIR2s. In that case "saving a hose failure point" is not worth the added pita factor of having bouyancy and your breathing gas in your mouth simultaneously.
To get to your streamlined point... Look at the larger button gauges, they are prefect mushroom shaped line traps. So I don't see one being much better than the other in the streamlined arena.
